Σκοπός η ξενάγηση τους στο νησί, η δημιουργία φίλμς σχετικά με την σημασία της Λήμνου στο παγκόσμιο και ελληνικό πολιτισμικό αποτύπωμα .
Επίσης είναι σε εξέλιξη το έργο “Πολιτιστικός περίπατος και καλλιτεχνική έκφραση στα μονοπάτια του Αnzac στη Λήμνο”.

Αγαπητοί φίλοι
Σας ενημερώνω ότι στις 4-6/10 θα παρεβρεθούν στη Λήμνο μια μεγάλη ομάδα διεθνών Ιστορικών πανεπιστημιακών (14 άτομα) προερχόμενοι απο το Διεθνές Ιστορικό Συνέδριο που διοργανώνει το Πανεπιστήμιο Μακεδονία με τον καθηγητή και αντιπρόεδρο του Συλλόγου μας Βλάση Βλασίδη με του οποίου την παρότρυνση θα γίνει αυτή η εξαιρετική επίσκεψη. Θα συνοδέψουμε τους καθηγητές στην περιήγηση και ξενάγηση στο νησί όπου στον χρόνο αυτό εκτός των υπολοίπων θα γίνει μια βιντεοσκόπηση και θα δημιουργηθούν 2 φιλμς με τις γνώσεις και εμπειρίες που έχουν και που θα αποκομίσουν απο το νησί μας, σχετικά με την σπουδαιότητα της Λήμνου στο παγκόσμιο και Ελληνικό πολιτιστικό αποτύπωμα.
Το έργο στηρίζεται και από το Υπουργείο Πολιτισμού του οποίου την αιγίδα έχουμε πάρει για τις δράσεις μας και έχει την ονομασία “Πολιτιστικός περίπατος και καλλιτεχνική έκφραση στα μονοπάτια του Αnzac στη Λήμνο”.
Η ενεργή συμμετοχή 14 Πανεπιστημιακών ιστορικών διεθνούς εμβέλειας , μας δίνει την άνεση να δημιουργήσουμε ένα προιόν που εύκολα θα μπορεί να αναδειχτεί στο παγκόσμιο κοινό μέσω των Εδρών των επιφανών καθηγητών στα διάφορα Πανεπιστήμια ανα τον κόσμο.
Θα χαρούμε να συμμετέχει όλος ο κόσμος της Λήμνου σε αυτό το event, δίνοντας και δείχνοντας και την σπουδαιότητα του για όλους μας.

Anzac Day in Lemnos – A Living Memory, a Global History
Dear distinguished guests,
Today, in Lemnos, we do not simply commemorate the past — we honor a living memory that transcends time and borders. A memory that began in 1915 and continues to shape the identity of this island and its connection with Australia, New Zealand, and all the nations that stood together during the Gallipoli Campaign of the First World War.
Lemnos was not just a stop on the way to the front. It was a place of humanity, hope, and care. It was here that field hospitals were set up in Moudros and Portianou. It was here that thousands of wounded soldiers were treated. And it was here that the nurses from Australia and New Zealand — women of courage and compassion — stood tirelessly by the side of the injured, offering comfort, dignity, and support in the most difficult of conditions.
We honor their memory not only with words, but with action.
Over the past two years, with funding from the Government of Australia, the Anzac Heritage Trail has been under development — a project that maps and highlights the key historical sites across the island, bringing to life the human stories behind the military operations.
In parallel, through collaboration with the Municipality of Lemnos and the Association “The Lemnos Friends of Anzac”, the digital platform www.lemnosanzac.gr has been created, providing access to historical resources, virtual tours, educational content, and interactive tools that connect past and present.
At the heart of these initiatives stands the Association “The Lemnos Friends of Anzac” — a dynamic cultural body that not only represents the local community but also leads the way in research, education, and public engagement.
The Association has also prepared a comprehensive proposal for a new-generation museum, dedicated to the role of nurses in wartime, using modern technology and digital storytelling. This project is ready to seek funding through Greek and European programs and has the potential to become a landmark of remembrance and international cooperation.
Today, we must recognize that the time has come for our local authorities to actively promote these efforts internationally, particularly in Australia and New Zealand, where the memory of Gallipoli remains vivid and deeply rooted.
Moreover, we should revive historical ties with other nations that had a presence on the island in 1915 — including United Kingdom, France, India, and all the countries that formed part of the then British and French Empires. Lemnos is part of their history too — and our shared remembrance can become a bridge for peace and friendship in today’s world.
Let us remember: memory is not static. It must be lived, shared, and passed on.
Lemnos has the people, the knowledge, and the vision to become a global meeting point of remembrance and peace. But this requires collaboration, commitment, and trust in the organizations that already work tirelessly for this cause.
Let us support the Association “The Lemnos Friends of Anzac”, let us support the island’s role in world history, and let us move forward with unity, dignity, and respect for all who came before us.
